Our philosophy

At Little Angels we offer an outstanding, stimulating  and inclusive service where children enter into our nursery at the age of  2  and quickly become confident and independent learners. Our routine offers children a balance of adult led and child initiated play in an enviroment where children play, learn and discover together . We believe the best start we can give our children is the social and emotional skills to become a member of a larger group. Our children are encouraged to learn important life skills, to feel confident, to take risks and challenging their play environment, whilst  being supported by adults who are sensitive to your children’s needs. We build important relationships with our parents and carers enabling us to build strong links between home and nursery.

What you will see is children developing a sense of wonder and excitement about learning as they also take their first steps to independence. We call it ‘active learning’ or ‘learning through play’.

It’s about preparing them for school and for learning and at Little Angels we have great links with our neighbouring school The Weaver Primary and other schools in the area.

We work closely with the reception class teachers and early years consultant so that our children are ready for when the go on to primary school.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. Our curriculum is led by children’s interests and we plan activities around individual children’s learning needs. Our children are encouraged to make choices and decisions about their own learning and have access to an enabling environment. This develops healthy habits and makes them active, inquisitive and independent learners. They even enjoy tidy up time!

At small group time our childre  develop group skills and problem solving abilities so they progress to school as confident active learners. Through purposeful play they have fun and learn at the same time.

We introduce an understanding of the wider world and give children the confidence to progress in communication and technology.

Our staff support your child by creating a learning environment which helps your child progress towards the early learning goals. They look, note and listern to ensure that each child receives an enjoyable and challenging experience at Little Angels.

Guardian Angels

When your child starts our sessions, they are assigned a member of staff who will become their Guardian Angel. They work in partnership with you and your child, enabling staff to build up a closer relationship in which to observe and assist in your child’s development.

Parents are encouraged to discuss their child’s progress at any time with their child’s Guardian Angel or management.

Get involved

Here at Little Angels at the Weaver we believe in working closely with parents and carers helping to build up a good relationship with families and help bridge the gap between preschool and home.

We offer a warm welcome to any parent who wants to join us on the Parent/Carer Rota to help during pre-school sessions. We really do recommend coming along and experience that learning is fun at Little Angels Pre-school.

We also encourage parents to share information with staff; come along to parent workshops to learn more about what we do; hold open weeks to discuss children’s individual progress; and hold open craft sessions and fund-raising activities where family members and carers can join in the fun.

Pre-School Daily Schedule

The day at Little Angels is broken up into four sessions of which you child is welcome to attend one or all.

8.00am – 9.00am Breakfast Club (We provide a healthy breakfast)
9.00am – 12:00noon Morning Session* (With a mid-morning healthy snack provided by us)
*Packed lunch taken during last 30 minutes of the session.
12.00pm – 3.00pm Afternoon Session* (With a healthy afternoon snack provided by us)
* Packed lunch taken during first 30 minutes of the session.
3.00pm – 6.00pm Afterschool Club (For three to 11-year-olds)

Breakfast Club Session:  £4.25 (adhoc sessions £5.00)

Uniform

Wearing a uniform makes life easier for you and your child, so we have red sweatshirts, polo shirts and t-shirts available to order with the Little Angels logo on. Speak to our staff about ordering.

Safety

The safety of your child is paramount during their time at pre-school.

Little Angels is a fully-secured site. We have locks on all doors and the outdoor play-area is fully secured and within the grounds on the Weaver Primary School.

We operate a signing in and out system as well as running a register, so at all times we know how many children we have on the premises. Only the parent/carer or pre-notified adults are allowed to collect the child from pre-school.

Our premises have been risk-assessed and this procedure is monitored and updated on a continual basis with any problems identified and dealt with promptly.
